Ep. 6.30.19: Democratic Debates Part 1; A Show of Progressive Unity
Sunday Jun 30, 2019
Sunday Jun 30, 2019
THE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS
This Week’s Discussion:
Part 1 of our analysis of the first round of Democratic Presidential debates looks at the remarkable consensus behind a progressive, pro-America agenda...and contrasts it to the regressive agenda of the current governing political party. Media efforts to sow division were thwarted by a civil discourse on the possibilities of enlightened governance. Regardless of who ultimately emerges as the Democratic candidate, the impact of Bernie Sanders and the democratic wing of the Democratic Party could not have been clearer on all the major issues of inclusiveness, climate, health care, immigration, women's empowerment, the economy and economic justice, guns, civility and competence. The Democrats show faith in the American voter...at their peril?

Ep. 6.23.19: The Battle for King's Landing (and 2020)
Sunday Jun 23, 2019
Sunday Jun 23, 2019
Trump "kicks Off" the 2020 campaign he has been running since 2016 and shows it will be more of the same: resentment and aggrievement (not just of white people but, mostly, of him!). Meanwhile, Democrats in NY demonstrate what governing on behalf of the people is all about. The choice of political parties and the future of this country could not be more stark...except to the 40% who support Trump. Speaking of stupid, Davie defines what it means to be stupid in society today, and why those willing to inflict it upon themselves endanger us all and are deserving of no sympathy.
We narrowly avoid war with Iran, for now, as Trump has to overrule his "best people". We talk about the dangers posed by the people Trump has put into power. There is no babysitter anymore, and the baby is unleashed. Will Trump's 2020 campaign include the slogan "only I can protect you from the best people I have chosen to protect you"?
On a "lighter" note, Trump takes on Pride Month and lies about the Mexico agreement, and Democrats really need to start playing hardball (sorry, Joe).

Ep. 6.16.19: Executive Over-privilege; Bring on the Collusion!

THE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS
This Week’s Discussion:
Trump ramps up his efforts to claim executive privilege on any information that could shed light on his many criminal activities. He declares it to hide his illegal efforts to suppress minority (real ones) representation by adding a citizenship question to the census. All to advance the Republican efforts to ensure continued minority (wealthy white ones) rule in the US. He also furthers his war on climate change...information. Mostly though, he publicly seeks to collude with hostile foreign powers to steal the 2020 election. ("Yes collusion, Yes obstruction!") The need to impeach grows ever more critical.
Also, was it right for the US women's World Cup soccer team to run up the score and humiliate its opponent? The nature of sportsmanship, and to what extent does our lack of respect for fair play in our sporting events lead to the cheating society we have? Speaking of cheating society, we say goodbye to Sarah the Huckster and hello again to Kellyanne Con Artist, whose firing for repeated illegal behavior was recommended by a government agency. Meanwhile, we inch closer to war with Iran as we trade accusations and the world decides whether it should believe radical religious extremists...or Iran. NY rejects radical religious extremism when it comes to vaccinations.

Ep. 6.8.19: Honoring Those Who Didn't Have to Suffer Through Bone Spurs on D-Day
Saturday Jun 08, 2019
Saturday Jun 08, 2019
THE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS
This Week’s Discussion:
We discuss the irony of President Snowflake Bone Spurs going to honor brave and patriotic soldiers on the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Also, the irony of not being able to embarrass a US President while he is overseas embarrassing us. And embarrass us Mr. Trump did; in spades (also, in Europe). Trump also reminds us how little it takes for desperate people to find dignity in a President who has none. Speaking of war, Trump will undoubtedly declare victory in a trade war with Mexico that he thankfully lost. In light of D-Day, we ask why the US asks so little of its citizens today. Also, another mass shooting that won't be a blip on Republican radar, and over 1000 former federal prosecutors are now publicly on record saying Trump is a criminal; will the Democrats in congress ever grow a pair?
