British PM Teresa May's efforts to accomplish Brexit mirror the problems Republicans have in trying to sell a product with nothing to recommend it. Amazon makes official the locations of its second headquarters, and demonstrates again the evils of relocation deals. We celebrate Veterans Day on the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, and note how the GOP celebration includes undermining just about everything we won during World War I, as well as the veterans we pretend to celebrate.

This Week’s Discussion:
In this week’s episode, the latest on the cover-up of the murder of a dissident journalist by Saudi Arabia, with the assistance of the US administration. How, through his repugnance and abdication of US leadership, President Trump, along with his political party, have emboldened criminal and anti-democratic activity here and around the world. We address the latest on the bombs mailed to Trump's opponents and targets of his vitriol. A Trump supporter has been arrested, and the President's hollow calls for unity and civility are undermined by his own rhetoric and actions. Even while this is going on, he cannot help but stoke the anger and fears of his supporters as it continues to represent his party's only path to political power. We again call on voters to rescue this country in less than two weeks.

This Week’s Discussion:
In this week’s episode, we again consider how low a political party in America can sink. We look to the killing of Saudi dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the Trump administration's efforts to help Saudi Arabia cover up the crime. We explore our having underestimated the President of the United States with respect to all the crimes he has been willing to cover up, now likely including not only attempted rape, but murder. We look to how Senate Republicans broke a deal with Senate Democrats in order to continue filling our federal judiciary with political appratchiks rather than jurists, regardless of its impact on the US Senate and basic rules of decency. Republicans are taking the long game with their judicial picks, and we dispel any notion that the federal judges they are putting on the federal benches will prove to put politics aside in their decisions. We talk about how recent stock market events demonstrate that the critics of the GOP tax bill were right, but Republicans will spin it otherwise, with the help of the media. Finally, we consider whether, in fact, our civic institutions are holding, or whether we should be very, very afraid. We again call on voters to rescue this country in two weeks.

This Week’s Discussion:
In this week’s episode, we consider how low a political party in America can sink. We explore the news of the week and how it all evidences a political party that has given up any pretense of wanting to govern for all Americans. The reaction to Nikki Haley's resignation demonstrates how low the bar has been set for members of this administration. The climate threat continues to grow for everyone other than US Republicans, even as Hurricane Michael proves it can be ignored, but not avoided. Saudi Arabia kills a journalist and US again displays its abdication of its world leadership role. Trump is an international criminal and his resume is phony...and his base doesn't care. GOP again demonstrates it can only stay in power through lies, bigotry, and voter suppression. Brett Kavanaugh joins the Supreme Court and thereby reduces whatever legitimacy it had left. Republicans show what they are made of.

And we spend the bulk of our show discussing the "performance" of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and the implications of a Republican party committed to ramming through the appointment to the Supreme Court of a demonstrated liar, partisan, and temperamentally unsuited likely sexual predator.
