Dave sings a very special "12 Days of Christmas" for our supreme leader, then muses on the new year and the fascist threat 2020 ushers in with it. It is a very fraught new year indeed, which figures to have this country fighting for its life.
In addition to Trump, we discuss some of the other trash that has been in the news over the holidays; mostly of the privileged rich variety, but we also discuss the meaning of having a sociopathic murderer become the darling of the President of the United States and his political faction (band of cronies). Finally, speaking of Trump's henchmen, Dave looks at the latest seemingly-quixotic Democratic hopes of convincing four Republican Senators to care about the US Constitution and their oaths of office.

The House takes a historic vote to impeach the President of the United States for only the third time in history. The impact of the moment, however, is seriously undermined by a criminal political organization, the GOP, whose members regard the US Constitution and US laws as inapplicable to themselves. Republican determination to turn the effort to preserve the US Constitution into a theater of the absurd prevents the House from even forwarding the Articles of Impeachment to a criminal Senate masterminded by Moscow Mitch. How does America survive this? (Sorry, we don't answer that question, we just ask it.)
Also, the latest on false equivalences from the paper of record show why saving America is so likely to be a losing proposition; we continue to reward criminals and liars by failing to note what they are, and how they are different from those who believe in rules, accountability...and truth. Speaking of which, two GOP-approved judges strike down the individual mandate of Obamacare. And the war against health care also continues apace! Boris Johnson, Trump-like liar, and ultra-rightists win big in UK elections; is that an omen for 2020 in the US and the end of democracy?

Happy D-Day?! We commemorate the day Donald Trump single-handedly saved a US state from the Chinese. Then Dave turns serious...serious as a presidential impeachment, which is proceeding at a rapid pace.
Bill Maher has a tremendously problematic "can't we all just get along?" moment, so Dave has a "can't we all just making stop false equivalences?" show. For good and for bad, the left continues to demonstrate why efforts to find equivalencies between a flawed political party and a criminal organization and its adherents are flawed and dangerous.
We discuss the vast differences between left and right in the way we treat ideas, education, the planet, and each other. Dave gets personal for a few minutes in discussing being a victim of vandalism. His personal property was destroyed by someone who was attacking socialists for...(wait for it!)...not respecting other people's property! Seriously. And we are supposed to treat these jackasses with respect?

Dave's takeaways from the impeachment hearings. The slam dunk case for impeachment, how dangerous is Trump to this country, the Republican criminal organization, and how vast the swamp is under Donald Trump. What the hearings tell us about Democrats and the American public as well. We also take this opportunity to define extortion and bribery for our listeners who may not have an extensive background in criminal behavior. Finally, we give thanks to the bureaucrats for their service, and for making this impeachment possible.
Also, Trump declares war not just on our institutions, the constitution, our values, and the American people, but now the US Navy as well...all on behalf of murderers and war criminals.

In the midst of the overwhelming case for the impeachment of Donald Trump, and Republican talking points about a Democratic coup, we thought it would be a good idea to talk about some of the things that Democrats have chosen not to impeach Donald Trump for. Turns out, the many instances of misconduct that are not subjecting Trump to impeachment make a pretty overwhelming case as well.
As the unprecedented scale of his misconduct numbs us to Trump's continuing misdeeds, it is good to be reminded of some of the myriad reasons we need to save ourselves from him...and his party! We review just some of his crimes, both common and extraordinary. Just some of the threats he poses to this country and to the entire planet. Just a sampling of the threats posed by Trump and his ilk to the future of our children.
And we consider anew that there is no equivalence between our two political parties.

Just in time for our show this week on the evils of the super-rich, finance billionaire Michael Bloomberg may be about to enter the presidential race. Apparently filling the great need in our government for someone to pursue the interests of Wall Street billionaires.
We think billionaires already have way too much power and this week's special episode is going to advance that argument. We do also address some of the big news of the week, which say a lot about how lucrative it is to be rich. California continues to burn with a primary assist from climate change, but a new report says that while many homeowners are being devastated, the rich are making out like bandits. And the Trump administration says it will roll-back rules designed to limit coal plants' ability to dump poisonous metals in our water supply; so even not poisoning children and cleaning up after themselves are too much for the rich.

As each defense of their criminal president gets shot down by one witness after another, Trump's GOP water carriers just pop up with another dishonest defense elsewhere; only to have the lies from their plastic rodent heads batted down again. Yes, we discuss the latest on impeachment.
But first, we deal with some of the latest news. Trump gets booed at the World Series in a victory for--sorry GOP--both free speech and democracy. ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is dead, an event worthy of celebration, and one which Trump is taking credit for, but actively undermined. A victory for democracy in a North Carolina state court ruling on democracy reminds us how large the war for democracy is. Finally, some reminders this week about our ruling class, as Boeing's CEO testifies in front of congress and says he feels bad about the 346 people he murdered...for more money. And a blast from the past as formerly-imprisoned junk-bond king Michael Milken is back in the news as a beneficiary of the machinations of our Treasury Secretary.

In order to fully cover the recent 3-hour Democratic debate, Dave will NOT talk about the latest corruption from President Trump or his administration, will NOT talk about his childish meltdown with congressional leaders, will NOT talk about which of his henchmen have committed the most indictable offenses in the past week, and will NOT even argue that Nancy Pelosi is rubber and he is glue (and the real third-grader). And Dave will only talk a very little bit about impeachment.
Dave will spend the show talking about the takeaways from the debate. What can we continue to learn from them and about the candidates? Dave goes all-in on the idea that while half a loaf may be better than none, a full loaf is the thing really worth fighting for. Also, who distinguished themselves and who should be thinking about their upcoming run for...something other than President.

We will look at the latest happenings in the impeachment investigation of Trump's betrayal of America. First, however, we look at his betrayal of the Syrian Kurds and discuss its place in the long and sordid history of Republican betrayals of Kurds. We examine what may have moved Trump to reverse long-time US policy in a way that even Republicans disapprove of...and which has Pat Robertson threatening his evangelical mandate from heaven.
We look at Trump's henchmen, and wonder who will be the next to turn--or be turned on. For an answer, we look to which criminals are liable to head to prison first (not counting Rudy Giuliani's just-indicted mafia-like friends). Republican willingness to debase themselves for Trump might appear boundless, but is it beginning to reach its limit?
Finally, we answer a listener's questions about democracy and the American voter. Are voters right to feel estranged from their government, and thus to refuse to participate in the political process? Are we right to find such voters despicable?

We look in more detail at the many...err, 1 impeachable offense that is the subject of congressional impeachment investigation. We look at what the crime is, the fact that he obviously did it, and that it is a big deal that must end in his removal from office. We look at some of the other crimes he has committed in just the last couple of weeks, and we consider the "impeachability" of his henchmen (and the worst ever name for a law firm) Pompeo, Barr, Giuliani and Pence. We also look at the Trump defense strategy of attacking, lying, obfuscating, minimizing, and appealing to playing the victim to appeal to his aggrieved white base. How should Democrats conduct the investigation (hint: turn over every crooked leaf) and how likely is Trump to get away with this.
We look briefly at what is the truly problematic aspect of the Hunter Biden fiasco: privilege. We look at that affair in the context of our ongoing discussions on the true nature of the threats wealth and privilege present to this country, threats that Trump and the Republicans call assets because they owe their existence to it.
